Morpholine-4-carboxamidinium sulfate

Abstract: The asymmetric unit of the title salt, 2C5H12N3O+·SO42−, comprises two cations and one sulfate ion. In both cations, the C, N and O atoms of the morpholine rings are disordered over two sets of sites, with refined occupancies of 0.849 (3):0.151 (3) for cation I and 0.684 (4):0.316 (4) for cation II. The C—N bond lengths in both central C3N units of the carboxamidinium ions range between 1.253 (12) and 1.362 (5) Å, indicating a degree of double-bond character. The central C atoms are bonded to the three N atoms… Show more

“…The bond lengths in the cation of the title salt are in very good agreement with those in a similar compound, 2-dimethylamino-1-(2-ethoxy-2-oxoethyl)-3-methyl-3,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidin-1-ium tetraphenylborate (Tiritiris & Kantlehner, 2012). Prominent bond parameters in the dihydroimidazolium ion are: C1-N1 = 1.327 (3) Å , C1-N2 = 1.339 (3) Å and C1-N3 = 1.342 (3) Å , indicating partial double-bond character (Fig.…”

“…After treating the salt mixture with an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution, the cyclic guanidine 1-methyl-2-dimethylamino-1H-4,5-dihydroimidazole emerged as one of the products (Tiritiris & Kantlehner, 2013). By alkylation of the free nitrogen atom of the resulting guanidine base, various cyclic guanidinium salts can be obtained.…”
