Morphological Changes of Conidiogenesis in Two Aspergillus Species

Abstract: Identification of aspergilli based on comparative of their diagnostic features in different growth media is a common manner between most of mycologists. Asexual sporulation in Aspergillus species is very complex processes which include numerous morphologically distinct stages. In the present study, asexual reproductive structures of Aspergillus terreus and Aspergillus versicolor have been tracked and the development of conidiophores have been compared in two types of growth media MEA (Malt Extract Agar) and YE… Show more

“…The antifungal activity of AgNPs was evaluated using agar well diffusion against Aspergillus niger RCMB 02724, A. terreus RCMB 02574, A. flavus RCMB 02782, and A. fumigatus RCMB 02568. All tested fungal strains were grown on PDA plates and incubated for 3–5 days at 30 °C [ 37 , 38 ]. The fungal suspension was prepared in sterilized phosphate buffer solution (PBS) pH 7.0, and then the inoculum was adjusted to 10 7 spores/mL after counting in a cell counter chamber.…”

“…The effects of crude medicinal plant extracts on fungal development, including conidial germination were investigated (Khalil and Hashem 2018 ; Niño et al 2012 ; Ren et al 2012 ). Moreover, phenolic compounds including cinnamic, gallic, vanillic, salicylic and ferulic acids are reported to induce collapse and shrinkage of the bacterial and fungal cells (Akter et al 2019 ; Nguyen et al 2013 ; Abdelmohsen et al 2020 ).…”

“…Six fungal strains were used in this study, Rhizopus oryzae (accession number MG518370), Rhizopus microsporus (accession number MK623262), Aspergillus niger RCMB 02724 , A. fumigatus RCMB 02568 , A. flavus EGYPTA5 and A. terreus RCMB 02574. Fungal strains were cultured on Malt Extract Media (MEA) and incubated at 28 ± 2 °C for 3–4 days, then kept at 4 °C for further use (Fouda et al 2015 ; Hasanin and Hashem 2020 ; Khalil et al 2019 ; Mohamed Aly Khalil and Hosny Hashem 2018 ).…”
