Morphology Evolution of Poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA), Poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) and Polyethylene Oxide (PEO) Ternary Blend and Their Effects on Mechanical Properties for Bio Scaffold Applications

Abstract: Ternary blends of poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA), poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) and polyethylene oxide (PEO) were produced with different concentrations of components via melt blending. By leaching the PEO from the samples by water, porous materials were obtained with potential application for bio scaffolds. Sample porosity was evaluated by calculating the ratio of porous scaffold density (ρ*) to the non-porous material density (ρ s ). Highest porosity (51.42%) was related to the samples containing 50 wt%. of PEO. Sc… Show more

“…At present PLLA/PVA and PLLA/PCL multilayer film are often used in medicine filed, such as the increasing interest of hydrogels for various biomedical applications as scaffolds for tissue engineering, the PVA/PLLA gels was synthesis for application (Mmari & Huang, ). The PLLA/PCL and polyethylene oxide ternary blend for bio scaffold applications (Ezzati, Ghasemi, Karrabi, Azizi, & Fortelny, ). Three layer active films were produced to form symmetrical “ABC” structures comprising PLLA with a polymeric PVA as core layer and pure PCL as external layers for chilled meat packing is not found.…”
