Morphometric analysis and taxonomic revision of AnisopteromalusRuschka (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea: Pteromalidae) – an integrative approach

Abstract: We use an integrative taxonomic approach to revise the genus Anisopteromalus. In particular, we apply multivariate ratio analysis (MRA), a rather new statistical method based on principal component analysis (PCA) and linear discriminant analysis (LDA), to numerous body measurements and combine the data with those from our molecular analysis of Cytb and ITS2 genetic markers (on a subset of species) and all available published data on morphology, karyology, behaviour, host associations and geographic distributio… Show more

“…Increasing the numbers of genome size estimates and karyotypes across the tree of life provides resources for the advancement of evolutionary genomics (Jacobson et al 2013, Sharakhova et al 2014. Furthermore, both flow cytometry and karyotypes can be used to detect cryptic species (Baur et al 2014, Vergilino et al 2012.…”

“…The best ratios for the separation of P. capito Baur sp. n. from P. albipennis and P. cingulipes were found using the LDA ratio extractor (Baur and Leuenberger 2011, Baur et al 2014). All measurements and the full R code used for the shape PCA are listed in Suppl.…”

“…Character measurements were recorded as the average of three measurements taken using a Nikon SNZ18 stereomicroscope with an ocular micrometer. The morphometrical analysis (Baur and Leuenberger 2011) was applied in R (R Core Team 2016) as outlined in Baur et al (2014) using code modified by Zhang et al (2017). The data and R script files for this analysis can be obtained from figshare (https://figshare.com, DOI: 10.6084/m9.figshare.6022259).…”
