“…These results are higher than the mean values of 1.61 mm and 1.43 mm reported by Ibom et al (2008) for black skinned and white skinned ectotypes of snails respectively. However, are lower than the mean values of 16.0 mm and 19.7 mm reported by Awesu (1980) and Amubode (1994) respectively for black skinned snails.…”

“…The mean clutch sizes obtained in this study were 6.50±0.57 (group I), 6.00±0.38 (group II) and 5.75±0.60 (group III). These values are higher than the mean value of 5.23 reported by Ibom et al (2008) for white skinned ectotype, but lower than the value of 7.8 reported by the same authors for black skinned ectotype. However, these results are lower than the values of 7, 8 and 8.5…”

“…These differences in mean egg weights between the two snail breeds and their crosses were highly significant (P<0.01) only between the blackskinned purebred and the black-skinned x white-skinned crossbred. The mean egg weight values obtained in this study for the black-skinned and white-skinned purebred ectotypes were quite similar to the mean values of 1.80 g and 1.05 g obtained by Ibom et al (2008) for the black-skinned and white-skinned purebreds respectively, but lower than the mean values of 2.7 g (2.6-2.9 g) and 2.4 g (2.3-2.5 g) recorded by Okon et al (2009b) for the black-skinned and white-skinned purebreds of A. marginata in the same study area. On the other hand, Amubode (1994) obtained quite higher mean egg weights of 3.5 g and 3.0 g for A. marginata and A. achatina respectively.…”

“…Cela pourrait être justifié par le fait que les régimes végétaux étant pauvres en minéraux et en protéine, les escargots en consomment beaucoup plus pour chercher à satisfaire leurs besoins en nutriments notamment en protéine (Akinnusi, 2002;Ibom, 2008 ;Otchoumou et al, 2005). Le rendement écologique de croissance s'est amélioré avec la teneur en protéine du régime alimentaire.…”
