Mortar Based on Dune Sand and Substitute Wood Sawdust: Physico-Mechanical Characterization and Relationship Between Properties in Young Age

Abstract: The South of Algeria is known for these immense sand dunes, which cover part of its territory (Sahara). The main objective of this study is the recovery of sands dune and wood waste (sawdust). The latter, which constitutes a potential source of several environmental and economic problems. The objective of this present work is to characterize the physico-mechanical properties at a young age of a dune sand-based mortar lightened by wood waste and to examine the suitability of using it for various applications in… Show more

“…The waste considered in this work is wood chips from carpentry waste. The recovery of dune sand and the reuse of wood chips in the construction sector have been the subject of several research projects in recent years (Bensaada et al, 2023;Silouantonda et al,2023;Jawad et al, 2022;Huijuan et al, 2022;Simon et al, 2022;Ziqiang et al, 2022;Emmanuel et al, 2021;Aidoud et al, 2021;M'Li et al, 2017;Bederina et al, 2010) aimed at their influence on the physicomechanical properties of the concretes and mortars thus obtained. In this sense, our work represents a continuation of this work and aims to extend the use of these materials in the prefabrication of concrete blocks.…”
