Mp11-08 negative Mpmri Rules Out Extra-Prostatic Extension in Prostate Cancer Before Radical Prostatectomy

Abstract: surveillance based on systematic biopsy alone. The objective of this study was to analyze characteristics of patients eligible for AS based on systematic biopsy, who later underwent radical prostatectomy and were found to have Gleason Grade (GG) !3 disease.METHODS: Patients were enrolled in a nationally registered clinical trial to evaluate the use of MRI-targeted combined biopsy (NCT00102544). We queried our institutional database for patients who underwent radical prostatectomy between June 2007 and July 202… Show more

“…Given the growth pattern of prostate cancer with the tendency of scattered tumor islets (19)(20)(21), an early phase fat-saturated DCE with high spatial resolution has, in theory, the best technical ability to detect tumor islets and thereby the tumor extension. In line with this, Caglic et al found that DCE better detected seminal vesicle invasion (22) and Dinneen et al found that DCE improved the performance of MRI in ruling out extra-prostatic extension (23). DCE has also been found to improve identification of some intra-prostatic tumors (24) and estimation of tumor volume (25).…”
