Multi-agent systems’ asset for smart grid applications

Abstract: Multi-agent systems are a subject of continuously increasing interest in applied technical sciences. Smart grids are one evolving field of application. Numerous smart grid projects with various interpretations of multi-agent systems as new control concept arose in the last decade. Although several theoretical definitions of the term ?agent? exist, there is a lack of practical understanding that might be improved by clearly distinguishing the agent technologies from other state-of-the-art cont… Show more

“…The last ten years have seen the emergence of numerous smart grid projects using various multi-agent system interpretations as new control concepts. Although the term "agent" has several theoretical definitions, there is a lack of practical comprehension that may be remedied by clearly separating agent technologies from other cutting-edge control technologies [6]. Furthermore, the communication systems still need to improve in the smart grid to integrate generated power from solar, wind, and other renewable energy resources [7].…”

“…Conforme Rohbogner et al (2012) os sistemas de gerenciamento de energia estão vinculados as REIs. Estes sistemas têm a tarefa de planejar e controlar de forma otimizada os recursos energéticos de um determinado ambiente.…”

“…Nowadays new technologies such as Internet-of-Things [1] coupled with sensors miniaturization, offer the possibility to enrich Distributed Measurement Systems (DMSs) with a large number of measurement devices, that can be located everywhere and easily controlled, through internet connection. This has led not only to increase the productivity of the industries [2], or ameliorate the management of smart micro grids [3], but has made available a huge amount of measurements data.…”
