Multi-Focus Image Fusion Using Geometric Algebra Based Discrete Fourier Transform

Abstract: For color image fusion, existing traditional algorithms regard each color image pixel as a scalar which may lose the relationships among spectral channels. In this paper, a novel multi-focus image fusion algorithm using geometric algebra based Discrete Fourier Transform (GA-DFT) is proposed. First, a novel Discrete Fourier Transform based on geometric algebra (GA) is provided. Second, the proposed algorithm represents the color image as a GA multivector by mapping the RGB channels into the GA space. Third, the… Show more

“…A CNN-based model is prepared for the extraction of the spatial detail information of the PAN image and provides better spatial and spectral resolution. It is justified by applying different transfer functions such as wavelet transform (WT) [16,37], discrete Fourier transform (DFT) [49] and Fractional Fourier transform (FrFT) [15] at the place of CNN in the proposed scheme. The qualitative results of the methods are provided in Figure 5a-e and quantitative results are shown in Table 2 for the IKONOS satellite dataset.…”

Its basic idea is to utilize a transformer (e.g., discrete Fourier transform [2], discrete wavelet transform [3], non-subsampled contourlet transform [4], etc.) to convert source images into the feature domain, in which salient features can be easily detected.…”
