Abstract:Multi-layer optical thin films can reflect light to guide it along a hollow tube that they internally line. However, reflecting broadband white light for a range of angles requires many precise thin optical layers, which can be too expensive for large-scale applications such as architectural illumination. Here, we present an alternative configuration that requires only one readily achievable aspect of precision—having a substantially constant cross section, perpendicular to the planned longitudinal propagation… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
