Advanced Technologies such as Internet of Things, Machine Networking give rise to the deployment of autonomous Wireless Sensor Nodes. They are used for various domains namely battlefield monitoring, enemy detection and monitoring the environment change. These Wireless Sensor Nodes have the properties of low cost and high battery life. NL (Network Lifetime) is an important phase of Wireless Sensor Network (WSNs), in which the nodes can maintain sensing for a more amount of time. NL can be improved by use of multiple techniques namely Opportunistic Transmission, Scheduling of Timed Data Packets, Clustering of Nodes, Energy Harvesting and Connectivity. This paper provides the energy consumption computation, life time ratio definition and the overview of NL improvement techniques. The paper also presents brief review of the Destination based and Source based routing algorithm

Wireless sensor networks have become an emerging research area due to their importance in the present industrial application. The enlargement of network lifetime is the major limitation in WSN. Several routing protocols study the extension of lifespan in WSN. Routing protocols significantly influence on the global of energy consumption for sensors in WSN. It is essential to correct the energy efficiency performance of routing protocol in order to improve the lifetime. The protocols based on clustering are the most routing protocols in WSN to reduce energy consumption. The protocols dedicate to WSN have demonstrated their limitation in expanding the lifetime of the network. In this paper, we present Hybrid SEP protocol : Multi-zonal Fuzzy logic heterogeneous Clustering based on Stable Election Protocol (FMZ-SEP). The FMZ-SEP characterizes by four parameters: WSN segmentation (splitting the WSN into the triangle zones ), the Subtractive Clustering Method to determine a correct number of clusters, the FCM and the SEP protocol. The FMZ-SEP prolong the stability period and extend the lifetime. The simulation results point out that the stability period of FMZ-SEP. FMZ-SEP protocol outperforms of MZ-SEP, FSEP and SEP protocol by improving the network lifetime and the stability period.

Summary A wireless sensor network (WSN) can give a coordinated and minimal effort checking and control answer for such keen emotionally supportive systems. In this paper, we have discussed about the SEP in comparison with LEACH for smart home applications. Smart home scenario of an industry is taken into consideration in our research. The normal sink node is represented in the name of link node that connects the multiple sectors in the smart home scenario. In addition, it will act as a cluster head for the entire smart home setup. Moreover, the present research work proposes the plan of a low energy and high throughput and various levelled cluster‐based directing convention for smart home sensor organize application. Proposed protocol performs dynamic cluster head choice in light of various node qualities like node enduring energy, remoteness of the node from the link (sink), and average distance of the node from various neighbor nodes. Cluster head appropriation is even and brings about upgraded organization lifetime. Sensor nodes process the sense information utilizing nearby on‐board processors and exclude the repetitive information from transmission. In the final section, the energy level and the through put can be compared with the LEACH for getting a better understanding. The simulation results of the proposed technique clarify the energy consumed and the energy remaining in the stream. The energy will be measured in Joules. Moreover, the dead node will be tracked and intimated through our proposed work. The packet delivery and the delayed process of each and every node will be discussed in the proposed simulation result. The energy level remained will be calculated in Joules measurement. The SEP level will be more when compared with LEACH protocol. The energy level will be improved in case of SEP as 5, 10, 15, and 20 J/ ms.
