Multiband Circularly Polarized Stacked Microstrip Antenna

Abstract: In this paper, a multiband circularly polarized capacitive coupled stacked microstrip antenna is proposed. The multiband circular polarization (CP) is achieved by corner truncation, embedding slits and inclined slots on a three layered antenna structure. The proposed antenna also shows wideband behavior with an impedance bandwidth of 52.13% in the frequency range of 4.85 GHz to 8.27 GHz, while 3 dB axial ratio bandwidths in five CP bands are 0.51%, 4.54%, 0.33%, 0.83% and 1.29% in the frequency range of 5.12 G… Show more

“…Mobile telephony systems for example, allow portable devices compliant with GSM900/DCS1800/ UMTS2000 technologies and the same devices will also link users to WLAN networks based on 802.11 standards (2.4/3.6/4.9/5/5.9GHz) specifications. Hence, it is of great interest to develop patch antenna with multiple resonances [4][5][6][7].Many researchers have made huge efforts to design slot/slit based antennas on the radiating patch and ground plane, which can be used for multiband operations [8][9][10][11][12][13][14].Reconfigurable antennas are still attracting many researchers for designing multiband antennas [15][16][17].Metamaterials are the promising new candidates for designing multiband antennas [18][19][20].Fractals have been investigated for multiband antenna operations [21,22].Stacking of antennas for multiband operation has also been investigated [23,24].…”

“…An axial ratio bandwidth of more than 7% was achieved by using a 2 × 2 single-fed CP corner truncated patch array [20]. Multiband circular polarization can be achieved in a three-layered antenna structure using corner truncation, embedding slits, and inclined slots [21]. Another method to generate CP waves is using a 4 × 4 substrate-integrated waveguide feed to a slot-coupled rotated strip with a metal topped via fence fabricated using LTCC technology [22].…”

“…Now-a-days, single antenna is desired for more than one application. Many researchers have made large efforts to design such kind of antennas, which can be used for multiband operations [1–3]. Several researchers have worked in the field of multiband antennas [4].…”
