Multifunctional biosensors based on peptide–polyelectrolyte conjugates

Abstract: A novel enzymatic platform for the sensing of H2O2 and glucose that uses L,L-diphenylalanine micro/nanostructures (FF-MNSs) as an enzyme support is shown. This platform is obtained by the self-assembly of poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH), FF-MNSs, and microperoxidase-11 (MP11) anchored onto the peptide matrix, in two different crystal structures of FF-MNSs: hexagonal (P61) and orthorhombic (P22121). The electroactive area of the electrodes increases in the presence of FF-MNSs. We also demonstrate via theor… Show more

“…Nafion membranes find applications in electrochemical devices such as fuel cells chlor‐alkali cells, solar fuel generators and redox flow batteries . Apart from membranes, thin films of Nafion are used as coating material on modified electrodes for applications in glucose sensors, microbial biosensor for phenolic compounds, methanol sensors and other electrochemical applications such as the detection of glutathione, biosensors and detection of heavy metals . The structural and transport properties of the commercial Nafion membranes of various equivalent weights and thickness have been studied extensively .…”

“…Oligopeptides are important building blocks for the synthesis of supramolecular structures due to their self‐assembly capabilities . The wealth of nanostructures formed opens a wide range of applications in the field of biosensors, organic semiconductors, and drug delivery . In particular, nanostructures formed from the Alzheimer's β‐amyloid linear dipeptide diphenylalanine show a large degree of polymorphism.…”
