Multifunctional Fe3O4–CdTe@SiO2–carboxymethyl chitosan drug nanocarriers: synergistic effect towards magnetic targeted drug delivery and cell imaging

Abstract: In this study, novel multifunctional core shell structure Fe 3 O 4 -CdTe@SiO 2 -carboxymethyl chitosan drug nanocarriers (MDNs) were developed from carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS) and magnetic fluorescent composite nanoparticles (Fe 3 O 4 -CdTe@SiO 2 ). After processing parameters affecting the end product properties were systematically optimized, Doxorubicin (DOX), a weak base type in clinic anti-cancer drug, was successfully incorporated into the polymeric complex. The formed the MDNs show a uniform size aroun… Show more

“…In another study, Wang et al. investigated an innovative multifunctional core‐shell structure, Fe 3 O 4 –CdTe@SiO 2 –carboxymethyl CS drug nanocarrier (MDN), which was synthesized from CMCS and magnetic fluorescent composite NPs (Fe 3 O 4 –CdTe@SiO 2 ) . After processing, parameters affecting the product properties were systematically optimized and DOX was successfully combined with the polymeric complex.…”

“…Wang et al developed multifunctional, core‐shell‐structured Fe 3 O 4 ‐CdTe@SiO 2 ‐carboxymethyl chitosan composite nanoparticles (MDNs) for magnetically targeted drug delivery, and cellular imaging . The MDNs possessed the following properties including excellent biocompatibility, desirable solubility at physiological condition and long‐term blood circulation, the Fe 3 O 4 –CdTe@SiO 2 nanoparticles have a uniform size about 50 nm, the drug loaded content was 7.06 × 10 3 mg g −1 and encapsulation efficiency was 76.8%.…”

“…Re(CO) 5 OTf 45 (OTf ¼ CF 3 SO 3 , 37.2 mg, 7.83 Â 10 À2 mmol) was dissolved in dry toluene (8 mL) under nitrogen, and added with 15.5 mg of 1,10-phenanthroline monohydrate (7.8 Â 10 À2 mmol). The mixture was heated at 100 C for 5 h. Finally, the temperature was lowered to 0 C, giving an orange powder, from which the intermediate product [Re(phen)(CO) 3 (OTf)] was isolated by washing with toluene (3 mL, 2 times) and drying under vacuum.…”
