Multifunctional Nanoplatform Based on Black Phosphorus Quantum Dots for Bioimaging and Photodynamic/Photothermal Synergistic Cancer Therapy

Abstract: A multifunctional nanoplatform based on black phosphorus quantum dots (BPQDs) was developed for cancer bioimaging and combined photothermal therapy (PTT) and photodynamic therapy (PDT). BPQDs were functionalized with PEG chains to achieve improved biocompatibility and physiological stability. The as-prepared nanoparticles exhibite prominent near-infrared (NIR) photothermal and red-light-triggered photodynamic properties. The combined therapeutic application of PEGylated BPQDs were then performed in vitro and i… Show more

“…BP is an ideal theranostic agent due to its inherent PA characteristics for imaging and the ability to load various fluorescent substances for both in vitro and in vivo imaging, as well as PTT and PDT characteristics for therapy. Li et al established a PEGylated BPQDs based multifunctional nanoplatform for cancer bioimaging and combined PTT with PDT. Fluorescent molecules were loaded onto BPQD, and fluorescence imaging of cancer cells was accomplished.…”

“…PEGylated BPQDs acted as nanocarriers for loading organic fluorescent dyes, RhB. The formed fluorescence probes, RhB/PEG‐BPQDs, were distinctly located in the cytoplasm for FL imaging of Hep G2 cells and 4T1 cells . Fluorescence cyanine7‐loading BP nanoparticles achieved the desirable in vivo NIR FL imaging toward 4T1 tumor‐bearing mice …”

“…Among various nanoparticles, gold nanoparticles are the most widely used in the biomedical field because of their advantageous properties such as biocompatibility and facile modification [96][97][98][99][100][101][102]. According to their size, shape, and structure, they also have controllable surface plasmon resonance (SPR).…”
