Multiple Antenna Selection Schemes with a RF Reconfigurable Power Combiner

Abstract: In this letter, we propose multiple antenna selection (MAS) for switch-andexamine combining, switch-and-examine combining with post-examining selection (SECps) and selection combining (SC), respectively. The performances of these diversity combining schemes can all be improved by MAS with one RF chain. In practice, MAS is implemented by using a RF reconfigurable power combiner instead of RF switch in frontend, which keeps one RF chain and makes full use of the signals from different diversity antennas. The sig… Show more

“…3 This holds true for power dividers as well, as reconfigurable power dividers for 5G Cellular networks have recently been proposed. [4][5][6][7][8] Reconfigurability refers to the ability to adjust or control a power divider's features dynamically while still maintaining acceptable overall performance. Power divider with adjustable power division ratio, 4,[9][10][11][12] center frequency, [13][14][15][16][17][18][19] and transmission mode or function selectivity [20][21][22] are the key features targeted by reconfigurable power dividers.…”

“…Current and future communication systems necessitate reconfigurable structures and extended features, which are taken into account in the development of microwave devices such as: filters, 1 antennas, 2 and amplifiers 3 . This holds true for power dividers as well, as reconfigurable power dividers for 5G Cellular networks have recently been proposed 4–8 …”
