“…In our review of the literature from 1973 to 2006, we found that 21 of 67 patients were otherwise healthy, while 46 (69%) had an underlying disease. Thirty‐eight cases (83%) of the latter were related to various immunodeficiency states such as systemic lupus erythematous, 3,7,10,13,17,20,22,24,25,28,29,39 dermatomyositis, 50 Sjögren's disease, 17,25,42 HIV infections, 26–28,30,32,33,36,38 pemphigus vulgaris with ulcerative colitis, 20 myasthenia gravis, 16 sarcoidosis, 31 mycosis fungoides, 35 acute and chronic myeloid leukemia, 43,45 myelodysplastic syndrome 44 and kidney transplantation 47,48 . Twenty (43.5%) patients of this group had autoimmune diseases, mostly systemic lupus erythematosus which has been reported in 17 cases.…”
