Multiple Organ Dysfunction Following Aspiration of Maternal Blood
Abstract:We describe the case of a term newborn with multiple organs dysfunction, including respiratory distress, acute renal failure, and hypotension following aspiration of maternal blood around the time of birth. We also discuss potential mechanisms for local (pulmonary) and systemic effects of blood aspiration.
