Multiprobe RLSA design for DBS reception

Abstract: A synthesis method for circular‐polarization radial‐line slot antennas excited by four posts inside the radial line is presented. This excitation generates a rotational mode inside the waveguide, and the slots that radiate the field can be placed arranging concentric rings. The reflected field inside the radial line can be controlled. We present the design and a prototype model for this antenna that shows practical results. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. “…All these models have been validated via Electric field on the slots vs. their length: amplitude and phase simulations based on the MoM, Ensemble v.5.1, and measurements. Finally, this model has been applied to the synthesis of two antennas presented in [19,20] and very accurate results have been obtained.…”

“…The measurements were carried out in a test setup of the radial line ending in an absorbing material in order to cancel the reflections. This method has been applied to analyse and synthesize the antennas shown in [19,20]. These are left-hand circular-polarized radial-line slot antennas excited with four posts for monopulse radar and satellite television reception, respectively.…”

“…Then, a systematic procedure for obtaining the position, length and orientation of all the slots in the array is proposed. This method is based on the conclusions reached with the analysis method given by the authors in [Sierra et al, 1996a] and has been applied in practical designs [Vera, 1996;Sierra-Castañer, 2000;Sierra-Castañer et al, 2003a;2003b;Vera et al, 2003].…”
