Multistage Shelf Devices with Fluidized Bed for Heat-Mass Transfer Processes: Experimental Studies and Practical Implementation

Abstract: The article deals with the theoretical description and experimental study of the hydrodynamic and heat transfer properties regarding the operation of multistage gravitational devices of the fluidized bed with inclined perforated shelves. The peculiarities of the work and the implementation field of the multistage shelf units are described. A theoretical model to define the solubilizer’s velocity above the perforation holes, in the above-shelf space of the device and in the outloading gap, as well as the reside… Show more

“…In [16], authors analysed the pressure drop during the movement of the gas flow through the holes of a gas distribution grid and free space for unloading particles from the layer. Dependences have been obtained for estimating the velocity profile of a gas flow as it passes through perforation holes of an inclined gas distribution grid.…”

“…However, it is intended for the multi-product separation of powdered materials and thus cannot be applied to the processing of granular products. The design of the device with a cascade of perforated shelves in the lower part is proposed as a cooler of granular mineral fertilizers and a dryer for granular materials [20]. Therefore, as a pneumatic classifier, this apparatus cannot provide sufficient efficiency.…”

“…The apparatus of this design enables effectively removing the fine fraction of less than 1 mm from the polydispersed mixture of granular mineral fertilizers [14]. Pneumatic classifiers with a fluidized bed of the granular layer and perforated grate [15,16] are mainly intended for separation of the bulk product in order to separate particles less than 0.5 mm from the layer.…”
