Mutational Bioassay and Ameliorative Action of Caffeine for Induction of Early Maturing Mutant in Nigella Sativa L.

Abstract: With the unfolding of mutational studies, chemical mutagenesis is widely used for developing induced mutants in plants. The efficiency of this technique using one of potent chemical mutagen i.e., Caffeine is accounted in the present piece of work. The existing germplasm (seeds) of Nigella sativa was mutagenised with 0.10%, 0.25% and 0.50% dose of caffeine to develop a viable mutant at M2 generation level. Different qualitative and quantitative traits of mutant plant was screened time to time and contrasted wit… Show more

“…It has been developed for the control of sulfonylurea-resistant weeds in rice, such as Schoenoplectus juncoides (rock bulrush). Cyclopyrimorate (6) [20] and credazine (7) [21] are further broad-spectrum rice-selective herbicides, but with unknown mode of action.…”

“…The process in the preparative investigations on pyridazines has been summarized periodically in exhaustive reviews [1][2][3][4][5]. Also, the activity of pyridazine derivatives in the field of analgesics and inflammation [6], antibiotics [7], epilepsy [8], cardiovascular diseases [9], and oncology [10] has been reviewed recently. The only heterocyclic scaffolds, for which so far extensive reviews exist regarding their significance in crop protection chemistry, are pyrazole [11], pyridine [12], pyrimidine [13], thiazole [14], and isothiazole [14].…”

“…Consequently, chlorophyll is degraded depending on the intensity of illumination, which results in bleaching. Hence, these PDS inhibitors are commonly called "bleaching herbicides" [1][2][3][4].…”
