Mutual Coupling Reduction in Antenna Arrays Using Artificial Intelligence Approach and Inverse Neural Network Surrogates

Abstract: This paper presents a novel approach to reducing undesirable coupling in antenna arrays using custom-designed resonators and inverse surrogate modeling. To illustrate the concept, two standard patch antenna cells with 0.07λ edge-to-edge distance were designed and fabricated to operate at 2.45 GHz. A stepped-impedance resonator was applied between the antennas to suppress their mutual coupling. For the first time, the optimum values of the resonator geometry parameters were obtained using the proposed inverse a… Show more

“…The T/R module mainly completes the amplitude and phase adjustment of the transmitted and received signals. The fault of transmitting and receiving channels and the coupling [ 9 ] between different channels are important problems in the application of array antennas. When a fault occurs in the transceiver channel, such as the T/R module being faulty, the array antenna’s performance will be changed.…”

“…Trough the training of ANNs on data collected from complicated systems, the underlying behaviors can be captured, facilitating precise predictions and refned control over these systems [42][43][44]. AI tools have been also widely used in designing of electronics and microwave devices, such as antennas, couplers, and power dividers [8,[45][46][47].…”
