Abstract:Nontubercular mycobacteria (NTM) are widely distributed in the environment. Though Mycobacterium aviumintracellulare complex (MAC) is the most common NTM species causing disease in humans, new species of NTM are being isolated due to improved methods of detection and increased physician awareness.
