N-Based Polydentate Ligands and Corresponding Zn(II) Complexes: A Structural and Spectroscopic Study

Giorgio Volpi,
Stefano Zago,
Roberto Rabezzana
et al.

Abstract: Herein, the structural and photophysical features of two N-based polydentate ligands and the corresponding Zn(II) complexes are investigated. The obtained compounds were characterized using different spectroscopic techniques and their optical properties are discussed in relation to their chemical structure, defined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and mass spectrometry. The spontaneous and quantitative complexation, investigated by UV-Vis, fluorescence, NMR, IR spectroscopies and mass spectrometry, makes th… Show more

“…Similarly, the imidazo[1,5- a ]pyridinic nucleus, substituted at position 1 with a pendant pyridinic group, has been utilized for coordinating transition metal ions as a chelating N-N ligand (see Figure 5 ) [ 125 , 129 , 130 , 131 ]. Specifically, the inclusion of a pendant pyridinic group at position 1 on the imidazo[1,5- a ]pyridinic skeleton (as opposed to introducing, for instance, a pendant phenyl group) enhances the quantum yield values [ 132 ].…”
