Nano‐structured gemini‐based supramolecular solvent for the microextraction of cyhalothrin and fenvalerate

Abstract: A novel supramolecular solvent-based microextraction followed by high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection method has been developed for the extraction and determination of two pyrethroid analytes, cyhalothrin and fenvalerate, in water and soil samples. The liquid-liquid-phase separation of surfactants has been used in analytical extraction. The surfactant-rich phase is a nano-structured liquid, recently named as a supramolecular solvent, generated from the amphiphiles. The alkyl carbox… Show more

“…On the other hand, DLLME provides a high enrichment and recovery in a very short period of time. Since its invention in 2006 , continually growing studies have focused on the DLLME extraction method due to its remarkable virtues . In this method, a microvolume of the extracting solvent is dispersed into the sample solution, which increases the surface area between the acceptor and donor phases, and this phenomenon facilitates and accelerates the mass transfer of the analytes to the organic solvent.…”

“…Pyrethroids are one of the broad pesticides that are widely used in agriculture (vegetables, fruit, and grains) and household ornaments as pest control agents . For a long time, the use of pyrethroids, including fenpropathrin , cyhalothrin , and τ‐fluvalinate (FL) has instantly increased resulting from the rapid demand of agricultural products and decoration . Hence, their residual constantly entered into biological systems, and a series of issues caused neurologic disorder of human resulting in loss of consciousness and seizure .…”

“…SUPRAS is a term dedicated to water‐immiscible liquids consisting supramolecular assemblies dispersed in a continuous phase. The term SUPRAS is used to discriminate between these solvents and others adopting the self‐assembly point of view process through which they are formed and noncovalent interaction by which molecules are held together in this solvent . SUPRAS are produced from amphiphiles solutions by two clear self‐assembly processes occurring on two scales, molecular and nano.…”

“…As a result, extraction is limited to some defined analytes. Recently, our research group introduced a new generation of SUPRAS based on propanol/gemini surfactant to expand the scope of SUPRAS and to handle the problems of the previous SUPRASs .…”
