Nano TiO2as a New Tool for Mothproofing of Wool: Protection of Wool againstAnthrenus verbasci

Abstract: Wool protection against moths is an important concept in wool finishing that can obtained through application of various chemicals with different mechanisms of actions. In this paper, a novel mothproofing method is introduced through treatment of wool fabric with nano titanium dioxide (NTO) and citric acid (CA). Citric acid (CA) helps to enhance the washing durability, antifelting, and antibacterial properties of the NTO treated wool. Mothproofing was assessed through the study of damages on the wool surface b… Show more

“…Direct Blue 200, a copper complex direct dye, and pre and post-mordanted with Cu(II) sulfate for deodorization of ethyl mercaptan. According to the results, all the deodorization effects plotted against the copper ion uptakes were found to increase quadratically with the copper ion uptake [ 132 ]. Thus, natural as well as synthetic dyes can be utilised for deodorizing functionalization of textiles by following proper protocol (optimized) of dyeing.…”

“…Fabrics have been applied in electronics, medical and aerospace industries in the past decades due to their excellent properties, such as ame retardancy, conductivity, antibacterial, ame resistance, self-cleaning and wear resistance. [1][2][3][4][5][6] With the development of the research of functional fabrics, woven fabrics have been employed to fabricate hydrophobic fabrics as exible substrates. The pristine ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fabrics are one of the most desirable high-performance woven fabrics owing to their high modulus, high axial tensile strength, self-lubricating properties, soness, low specic weight, high impact resistance, excellent chemical resistance and low dielectric constant.…”

“…Titanium (IV) oxide nanoparticle sizeTiO 2 NPs are better than different photo-catalysts because of their reasonable safety, high photo-catalytic property, and effectiveness. Recently, many studies have reported on the possibility of titanium dioxide NPs as a photo-catalyst to give polyfunctional merits to polyester fabrics [10][11][12][13]. Improvement of polyester fabric by using TiO 2 NPs to provide it with multifunctional properties (e.g., UV-resistance, stain resistance, and antibacterial) was one of the most important goals of this study.…”
