: Wepreparednanosizedhydroxidemagnesium(Mg(OH) 2)asaplasticizerandaflame鄄retardingadditive forapoly(ethylene鄄oxide)(PEO)basedpolymerelectrolyte.Wecharacterizedthepreparedcompoundusingtransition electronmicroscopy(TEM),X鄄raydiffraction(XRD),andthermogravimetry(TG).Thepreparedhydroxidemagnesium particlesarehexagonalcrystalswithsizesof50-80nm.Thedecompositionofthepreparednanosizedhydroxide magnesiumstartedat340 益.ElectrochemicalmeasurementsshowsthattheionicconductivityoftheMg(OH) 2 /PEO compositepolymerelectrolytes(CPEs)increasesinitiallyandthendecreaseswithanincreaseinhydroxidemagnesium content.Itreachesamaximumwhenthehydroxidemagnesiummassfractionisbetween5%and10%.Theanodic decompositionpotentialoftheCPEsincreasestoacertainextentasthehydroxidemagnesiumcontentincreases. HydroxidemagnesiumhasapositiveinfluenceontheelectrochemicalstabilityofPEO.
