Nanometer Titanium Dioxide Mediated High Efficiency Photodegradation of Fluazifop-p-Butyl

Abstract: The widespread use of fluazifop-p-butyl (FPB) contributes to its presence in the environment. Considering the ecological risks of FPB residues in the environment, the anatase nanometer titanium dioxide (nano-TiO2) mediated photocatalytic degradation of FPB was studied by smearing FPB and nano-TiO2 together on a glass plane; illumination, trimethylsilane derivatization of photolysis products, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) quantitative analysis and gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer (GC-MS) iden… Show more

“…Visible light photocatalysis was considered as an environmental protection process. It uses light irradiation to stimulate photocatalyst and generates a pair of electrons and holes in the redox reaction [ [132] , [133] , [134] ], in which organic pollutants could be degraded into water, CO 2 and inorganic acids [ 135 ]. When the semiconductor, such as TiO 2 , is bombarded with photons with E ≥ E g (band gap), electrons (e − ) on the valance band are transferred into the conduction band, leaving behind positive holes (h + ).…”

“…90 Fusilade (butyl (R)-2-(4-((5-(trifluoromethyl)pyridin-2-yl)oxy)phenoxy)propanoate), also known as fluazifop-p-butyl) is an aryloxyphenoxypropionate herbicide that inhibits the acetyl-CoA carboxylase activity and lipid formation of weeds by postemergence application. 91 Osman et al isolated and purified Arthrospira platensis (A. platensis) and formulated it into a solution (1 g/mL, water) for faba bean (Vicia faba: Giza 843) seed treatment to counteract fusilade (foliar application, 500 cm 3 /fadden) damage. The safener activity of A. platensis in 45-day-old bean growth parameters was shown as the enhancement of leaf area (80%), length of shoots (67%) and roots (62%), number of leaves per plant (54%), fresh weight of shoots (417%) and roots (97%), and dry weight of shoots (600%) and roots (340%), compared to the fusillade monotreatment.…”
