Nanostructured Catalysts: Controlling Single‐Site Composition

Abstract

Developing well‐understood methodologies for the preparation of single‐site catalysts has long been a goal in catalysis science. Newly emerging strategies for preparing and functionalizing nanostructured materials open the door to a number of new approaches that address this goal. General, structural, and chemical definitions of nanostructured, single‐site catalysts are presented, and the challenges associated with meeting these requirements are discussed. Selected examples of nanostructuring strategies that lead to well‐defined single‐site catalysts are described.
