Nanotechnology Education for the Global World: Training the Leaders of Tomorrow

Abstract: Nanoscience is one of the fastest growing and most impactful fields in global scientific research. In order to support the continued development of nanoscience and nanotechnology, it is important that nanoscience education be a top priority to accelerate research excellence. In this Nano Focus, we discuss current approaches to nanoscience training and propose a learning design framework to promote the next generation of nanoscientists. Prominent among these are the abilities to communicate and to work across a… Show more

“…This technology has been reported to be beneficial in medicine [136][137][138][139][140], physics [136,141], genetics [142][143][144], and, most recently, in environmental sciences, among many other areas [123,[145][146][147]. We must highlight the fact that nanotechnologies have been reported as reliable [148], feasible [140], promising [149], practical [150], precise [151], cheap and effective [152], emerging [153], powerful [154], and economically feasible [155].…”

“…Nanoscience and nanotechnology (NSNT) is a very rapidly changing field and defined as one of the six key enabling technologies (KETs) by the European Commission, including advanced manufacturing technologies; advanced materials and nano-technologies; life science (as a broader definition of industrial-biotechnology); micro and nano-electronics and photonics; artificial intelligence; security and connectivity (Jackman et al, 2016). All are related to digital technologies (e-skills).…”

“…Therefore, the purpose of this work is to optimize a fast, facile, and non-expensive method for synthesizing AgNPs in non-specialized facilities. This easy-to-follow optimization protocol is mostly intended for biological research purposes, sanitation, and nanotechnology education [14, 16]. In the available literature, there are several facile methods for the synthesizing AgNPs [1619].…”
