Abstract: Characterized by a complex pathophysiology that includes the intraneuronal formation of neurofibrillary tangles and the extracellular deposition of β-amyloid plaques, Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a terminal neurodegenerative disease that causes dementia in older adults.
