“…The cell viability ability decreased dramatically, and the half maximal inhibitory concentration of BTR NPs is 12.8 μg/mL (6.63 μM), which is a little higher than that of the previously reported 3,6- bis(5-(4-(9Hcarbazol-9-yl)phenyl)furan-2-yl)-2,5-bis(2octyldodecyl)pyrrolo [3,4-c]pyrrole-1,4(2H,5H)-dione (7.1 μg/mL, 5.41 μM) [15] but lower than that of hypericin (5.6 μg/mL, 11.1 μM). [33] In addition, we have added a cell viability assay using normal human cells, including L02 cells and HEK cells, to evaluate the dark phototoxicity of photosensitizer (Figure S4). The results indicated that this photosensitizer has a low toxicity on normal cells.…”

“…Because of the oxygen-independent property of type I PDT, a variety of materials were designed and prepared to regulate the PDT mechanism and enhance type I PDT [ 40 , 41 , 42 , 43 , 44 , 45 , 46 , 47 ]. It is recognized that for the majority of photosensitizers, type I and II pathways typically exist simultaneously but competitively [ 48 , 49 , 50 , 51 ]. Till now, full understanding of the mechanism of transformation from type II to type I mechanism is still a great challenge.…”

“…7 At present, PTT has been applied to the in vitro and in vivo biomedical researches. [8][9][10][11][12] With the continuous development of research related to PTT, majority of PTAs have been developed and studied, including platinum, Au nanoparticles (NPs), MoSe 2 , Indocyanine Green (ICG), new Indocyanine Green (IR820) and so on. [13][14][15][16][17] Although, a variety of PTAs have been utilized, there is still a great demand for photothermal materials with good biosafety and photothermal property.…”
