Nearly omni‐directional compressed multiband flexible and conformal dipole antenna

Abstract: A physically compressed, multiband dipole antenna on a partially optically transparent Acrylic sheet flexible substrate material is designed. The multiband operation is achieved by exploiting the higher-order resonating modes.Due to the use of the flexible substrate, and the less metallic footprint of the radiator, the antenna is flexible and conformal with the nearly omnidirectional radiation characteristic in one of the principal plane. With an S 11 = À10 dB impedance matching criterion, the antenna has a me… Show more

“…However, this can lead to a deterioration in the performance of the antenna in terms of gain and directivity. Another technique [6][7][8][9][10] has been proposed to obtain a multiband antenna with smaller size, namely, to change the shape of the antenna, which can drastically reduce the amplitude of the current distribution in the radiator near the ground to suppress unbalanced current. Although these antennas have the advantage of compact size, the gain of the antennas remains very low.…”

“…For nearly omnidirectional radiation pattern, a conformal antenna-based, integrated with a dipole radiating element was demonstrated for various wireless communication band applications. 8 The conformal antenna was printed on acrylic sheet substrate material to obtain the flexibility in the conformal structure. Furthermore, a conformal antenna in the ultra-wideband range and millimeter frequency band for biomedical application was presented in Fan and Hao 9 and Shang and Yu.…”
