Abstract:We consider an optimal control problem for a hybrid system. The continuous motion of the system alternates with discrete variations (switchings) at which the dimension of the state space changes. The switching times are found by minimizing a functional taking into account the cost of switchings. We obtain necessary optimality conditions for such systems under additional constraints at the switching times. The application of optimality conditions is illustrated by an academic example. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
