Nematode Communities Associated with Chillies in Lower Sindh, Pakistan

Abstract: A survey of nematode communities associated with chilli fields in eight localities of lower Sindh was conducted. In all eight species were recorded viz., Meloidogyne sp. larvae; Helicotylenchus indicus; Pratylenchus penetrans; Tylenchus sp. larvae; Pratylenchus thornei; Tylenchorhynchus annulatus; Psllenchus hilarulus; Hoplolaimus indicus and Aphelenchus avenae. A principal component ordination showed the relationships between localities and the species. Cluster analysis revealed the grouping of the nematode c… Show more

“…This can be attributed to the wearing of tight-fitting business shoes, resulting in pressure and friction being experienced for extended periods. The most frequent site of lesion observed in this study was dorsal of feet (70.1%), the same as that observed in previous studies, [13][14][15] probably due to the large surface area, thin stratum corneum, and prolonged closed contact with the upper part of the shoes. 10 The baseline-series patch testing detected shoe ACD culprit allergens for 62.3% (48 of 77) of the patients.…”

“…In that survey, Ditylenchus anchilisposomus, D. geraerti, D. myceliophagus, Paurodontus similis, Psilenchus aestuarius and P. iranicus, were found for the first time from Pakistan. Khan et al (2000) did the study of nematode communities associated with chillies in lower Sindh, Pakistan. In all, eight species were recorded viz., Meloidogyne sp.…”
