Nerve Block for Septorhinoplasty: A Retrospective Observational Study of Postoperative Complications in 24 Hours

Abstract: Septorhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that provides functional improvements and esthetic adjustments to the appearance of the nose. Pain is a common postoperative complication, and pain management is known to decrease postoperative complications and total cost. Local anesthetics can cost-effectively decrease postoperative pain scores and reduce analgesic requirements.

“…It can dilate blood vessels and improve the blood supply, thereby correcting neurotrophic conditions. At the same time, it can prevent viruses from entering the nervous system by way of retrograde axons, enhance the body's defense functions, and effectively reduce the occurrence of neuralgia (10,11). However, there is some controversy regarding the clinical application of nerve block drugs.…”

“… Comparison of preoperative infraorbital and/or infratrochlear nerve blocks versus placebo: mean difference in postoperative pain score ( A ), standard mean difference in amount of analgesic used ( B ), and odds ratio for frequency of analgesic drug use ( C ) [ 8 , 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 ]. …”

“…These two peripheral nerve blocks have been reported to facilitate pain management, reduce complications, and reduce anesthetic agent consumption after nasal procedures. Conducting a nerve block of this nerve has been shown to promote effective pain control, reduce complications, and decrease the requirement for anesthetic agents following nasal surgeries [ 8 , 9 , 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 , 14 ].…”

“…Hemodynamic changes and cardiac arrhythmias are not uncommon in clinical practice, depending on including patient features, surgical treatment and drugs administered (1,2). Management in the day surgery clinic is challenging because of fluctuating blood pressures and heart rates, and an attentive approach is required to avoid complications during day plastic surgical treatment (3,4,5,6,7). Local infiltration anesthesia (LIA) with local anesthetic T. Bagatin et al Effect of local infiltration analgesia on hemodynamic function in different surgical procedures in day surgery solutions contains vasoconstrictors that are commonly used and may potentially affect the cardiovascular condition (8).…”
