Network Experimentation for Cooperative Localization

Abstract: Abstract-This paper introduces the notion of network experimentation and proposes an experimentation methodology particularly suited for cooperative wireless networks. Based on this methodology we performed extensive measurement campaigns and compare various cooperative localization techniques under a common setting. Network experiments enable (i) the quantification of cooperation benefits, (ii) the development of techniques for harnessing environmental information, and (iii) the characterization of network lo… Show more

“…Although it has been recently spotlighted in [23], [220] and experimentally evaluated in [221], network cooperation in the distributed estimation has been already long studied in [222]. Localization in cooperative ad-hoc network has been shown in [223] where the TOA and AOA measurements are combined in a distributed estimation framework.…”

“…In cooperative localization, sensors work together in a peer-to-peer manner to make measurements and then form a map of the network. Another paper, where the authors introduce the notion of network experimentation and propose an experimentation methodology particularly suited for cooperative localization wireless networks, is [26]. This study enables the performance evaluation of various network localization algorithms under a common setting.…”

“…Works [25][26][27][28] are connected with this work because the cooperation between nodes inside a wireless location system are crucial to achieve the goal of reducing the error for indoor location. The main difference with our work is that these systems do not try to study the people's behavior and whether or not their mobility follows a pattern.…”

“…Moreover, the distribution is generally non-Gaussian in harsh environments due to the existence of NLOS and multipath [51], [52]. 17 Notice that BC can be performed simply by evaluating some characteristics of , e.g., statistical moments and percentiles, as shown in Section III.…”
