Abstract:Dissociated neuronal cells from rat embryonic hemispheres were cultivated on astroglial layers. The increase in ganglioside content of the cocultures was more rapid than that of neuronal cultures seeded on polylysine surfaces for the first 24 h, and the extent of the increase was greater 7 days after inoculation, probably because of interaction between the preformed astroglial layers and the neuronal cells in vitro. The promoted expression of the a-pathway gangliosides, GM1 and GD1a, was recognized by TLC and … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
