Abstract: A hallmark of acute inflammation involves the recruitment of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (neutrophils) to infected or injured tissues. The processes underlying this recruitment are complex, and include multiple mechanisms of intercellular communication between neutrophils and the inflamed tissue.
