New Adaptive Reclosing Technique in Unbalanced Distribution System

Abstract: Abstract:The conventional reclosing of a distribution system is performed after a fixed dead time. However, it may lead to the increased outage time due to delayed reclosing. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a new adaptive reclosing scheme. The electrostatic induction is analyzed under at during-fault and post-fault conditions. Based on this analysis, the method to judge the fault clearance using the load current is proposed. The reclosing is adaptively performed after fault clearance. The distributi… Show more

“…is the shortened form of Load Rate and the same below. Then, three phase unbalanced loads may also exist in weak power grid structure area and may occur in temporary operation with fault, or during the process of power distribution networks reconfiguration in certain areas [26,27]. The acoustic radiation characteristics analysis of power transformers in these extreme situations are hence essential for operators to release timely information, and then to reduce complaints from neighboring residents.…”

“…The proposed method is developed for 3 phase 3 wire system with 1 neutral point grounding or isolated systems. Four wires network, multi-point grounded network and others require different methods of fault location and blocking of AR [11]. The presented criteria are not valid in multi-point grounded system since additional earthing points would create parallel paths for earth fault current flow.…”

“…The electrostatic induction phenomenon between the three-phase and neutral lines in an unbalanced distribution system is utilized to detect the instant of fault clearance in [24]. However, the impact of BESS is not investigated in [24]. During the fault period, BESS is highly stressed which adversely affects its lifespan.…”
