New Electric Transmission Systems: Experiences from Turkey

Abstract: In this case study, the existing situations of Turkey's energy generation and transmission systems are investigated along actual data between 1999 and 2011. The increasing trends of electricity consumption, as well as other growth parameters are revealed. Future energy demand is forecasted with a novel layered mathematical model at hourly resolution. It is shown that the prediction follows the average growth even after over‐growth or crisis years, which makes the proposed method a reliable load forecasting too… Show more

“…ANN can learn any function that applies to input data, by doing a generalization of the datasets which are trained with, then testing this model on other datasets to see whether it fits well or not by comparing the errors [32]. Assuming to have one hidden layer MLPNN, the main equation for the output can be defined by the following function (2) ( ( 1 + (1) )))…”

“…Traditional energy sources, like fossil fuels and gas, have been recently taking a major part in producing electrical energy for many years. However, they are considered to be the main source of the earth's pollution and global warming, they are also going to extinct one day soon [1]. In addition, the increase in the world's population with their demand for electricity can cause limitations in traditional energy production.…”

“…Recently the alternative renewable and clean energy sources have gained great importance in the world. Principally the wind and solar energy sources have received much attention because of their minimal environmental effect and sustainability [1][2][3]. Wind energy is one of the most economical methods for electrical energy generation.…”
