“…The presence of 24epiMaA was previously demonstrated in the leafcutting ant, Acromyrmex octospinosus, which feeds on its symbiotic fungus [7], and, in a similar way, ecdysteroid-producing fungi also synthesize 24␤-methyl (24S) "mycoecdysteroids" (e.g. [25]). …”

“…and this compound could be atrotosterone A. However, comparison with 1 H and 13 C NMR data for atrotosterone A (Vokác et al, 1998) show that these two products present differences in the chemical shifts for the side-chain signals, which could be explained by a difference in the stereochemistry of the chiral centre (C-24) of the side-chain. As the differences are more important for the end of the side-chain, compound 13.3 certainly represents a different configuration at C-24 with respect to atrotosterone A. Consequently, we propose that this compound is 24-epi-atrotosterone A.…”

“…287 Other ecdysteroids, atrotosterone A (321), 25-hydroxyatrotosterone A (322), atrotosterone B (323), 25-hydroxyatrotosterone B (324), atrotosterone C (325), and paxillosterone 20,22-p-hydroxybenzylidene acetal (326), were new ergostane-type ecdysteroids isolated from the toxic mushroom Paxillus atrotomentosus, along with 314 and 318. 288 The absolute conguration of C-24 of the metabolite 326 has not been conrmed.…”
