New Polysiloxane Surfaces Modified with ortho-, meta- or para-Nitrophenyl Receptors for Copper Adsorption

Abstract: Porous SiO 2 has been chemically modified with functional ortho-, meta-or para-nitrophenyl moieties using the heterogeneous route. This synthetic route involved the reaction of carbaldehyde derivatives with 3-aminopropyl trimethoxysilane prior to immobilization on the support. The new modified surfaces have been characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, 13C NMR of the solid state, nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherm, BET surface area, B.J.H. Pore sizes, thermogravimetry curves (TGA) and scanning electron… Show more

“…It was expected, as they have a similar chemical composition. On the FTIR spectra, the weak bands around 2800-300 cm −1 indicate C-H bond stretching, corresponding to the carbon chain attached to the inorganic silica matrix [27,28]. This indicates the C8 and C18 carbon chains attached to the silica particle.…”

“…The entire ATR-FTIR spectra (4000–500 cm −1 ) ( Figure S2 ) and spectrum (4000–500 cm −1 ) of commercial ASNase from E. coli used in this work ( Figure S3 ) are depicted in the Supplementary Materials . The broad band showed in all the spectra of the materials and bioconjugates, between 1100 and 1000 cm −1 , can be attributed to the presence of siloxane groups (Si–O–Si) of silica, as given in Figure 2 (dashed grey line) [ 45 ]. The broad band shown in the spectra of ASNase-[Si][N 3114 ]Cl, ASNase-[Si][N 3222 ]Cl, and ASNase-[Si][N 3888 ]Cl between 1700 and 1600 cm −1 , in contrast with the spectra of [Si][N 3114 ]Cl, [Si][N 3222 ]Cl, and [Si][N 3888 ]Cl, is attributed to the presence of ASNase ( Figure 2 , dashed yellow line).…”
