A modification glassy carbon electrode was fabricated as biosensors by mechanical attachment with carbon nanotubes to detect the effect of different concentrations of ascorbic acid (AA) on mercury ions in blood of human healthy samples using cyclic voltammetric technique. The oxidation potential peak of mercury ions in blood medium was appeared at 0.2 V, while the same peak in KCl as a supporting electrolyte appeared at 0.25-0.3 V. It was observed that the different concentrations of AA which are added to the mercury ions enhanced the oxidation current peak by raising the formation of decomposition complex in blood composition. This phenomenon appears while using seafood with lemon juice (as AA) which leads to the death if the percentage of mercury ions in the seafood was high. AA with mercury ions in blood media works as electrocatalysis by enhancing the oxidation current peak of mercury ions. It was very important to use the biosensor in the higher indicating analysis of the decomposition of the damage blood with higher sensitivity.

In this research, palm oil and soy oil were used as a natural polyol to prepare novel poly(silyl ether)s. Palm oil and soy oil were first converted to monoglyceride by one step via alcoholysis process in the presence of 0.1% CaO as a catalyst. The monoglycerides were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and iodine test. The novel poly(silyl ether)s were prepared via polycondensation reaction between dimethyldichlorosilane with monoglycerides based on palm and soy oils, respectively. FT-IR, NMR and silicone-29 (29 Si NMR) were used to confirm and determine the presence of silicone in the synthesized polymers. Thermal behavior was studied by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Antibacterial activity of the polymers was screened against three different strains of bacteria, namely Escherichia coli E266, Staphylococcus aureus S276 and Salmonella choleeraesuis 10708.

A series of modified bentonite (MBT)/polyurethane (PU) composites were synthesized from MBT, isocyanate, and soybean oil-based polyols by in-situ polymerization to coat urea granules for slowing nitrogen (N) release. Bentonite (BT) was modified by intercalation of polyethylene glycol inside the interlayer space, expanded the BT layer spacing and improved the performance of composites. The MBT and MBT/PU composites were characterized in terms of their structure, thermal stability, mechanical strength, surface wettability, and the urea slow-release performance. With the addition of 5.0 wt% MBT, its tensile strength is 13.53 MPa and breaking elongation is 20.66%, increased by 27.52% and 67.97%, compared with pure PU, respectively. The release duration of the PU-5%-MBT composites coated urea was 74 days. The results indicated that the modified films are suitable for the slow release fertilizers. POLYM. COMPOS., 00:000-000,
