“…Along the Turkish coast, S. cumingii, which is an alien species in the Mediterranean, was previously reported as Septifer bilocularis (Linnaeus, 1758) from the Levantine coast of Turkey (İskenderun Bay) at a depth of 40 m (Albayrak and Çeviker, 2001). Zenetos et al (2003) later accepted S. bilocularis as a suspicious synonym of S. cumingii, which was later commented on by Albayrak and Çağlar (2006).…”

The last authors stated that the specimen of S. bilocularis given by Albayrak and Çeviker (2001) belongs to S. forskali Dunker, 1855 (one of the synonyms of S. cumingii). The species is also known from the Greek coast of the Aegean Sea (Zenetos et al, 2011).…”
