Abstract: Background: It has been suggested that hemodiafiltration (HDF) is more efficient than hemodialysis (HD) in lowering plasma levels of the endogenous nitric oxide synthase inhibitor asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), which is a strong and independent predictor of overall mortality in ESRD patients.
