NOB1 Gene as a Potential Biomarker in Clinical Outcomes and Prognosis of Patients with Gastric Cancer

Abstract: Background: To investigate relationship of the Nin one binding protein (NOB1) gene with the prognosis of gastric cancer (GC). Methods: The GC tumor tissues and paired adjacent normal gastric tissues were collected from 65 patients who underwent primary gastric resection surgery in our hospital from January 2009 to July 2011. Data including age, gender, family cancer history, tumor diameter, pathological type, differentiation, clinical stage by tumor node metastasis (TNM) staging, lymphatic metastasis, and dist… Show more

“…Among the targets, NOB1 was chosen as a subject of study based on its biological function. 21,22 NOB1 was reportedly linked to the onset and development of various tumours and plays the role of an oncogene. [23][24][25][26][27] A previous study showed that NOB1 levels were elevated in cervical cancer tissues and cell lines.…”

“…In 2014, Li et al reported that miR-646 could inhibit tumorigenesis of renal cancer cells through the modulation of NOB1 and thus influence the MAPK pathway in renal cancer [57]. In addition, a series of studies showed the importance of NOB1 in multitumor development, including papillary thyroid cancer [58], glioblastoma [59], gastric cancer [60], and osteosarcoma [61]. Recently, Liu et al showed that the miR-646/NOB1 axis might play an important role in the development of OS and facilitate the colony formation, migration, and invasion ability of OS cells [26].…”

“…As a member of the ETS oncogene family, ELK1 affects cytoskeleton transformation and tumor invasion 32,33. As a conserved protein, nin one binding 1 (NOB1) affects RNA metabolism and protease function 34,35. In osteosarcoma, glioma and colorectal cancer, miR-326 can target NOB1 to inhibit metastasis 16,36,37.…”
