In recent years, the genus Alistipes has been expanded by the addition of a number of newly described and reclassified species, including Alistipes finegoldii (Rautio et al , 2003), Alistipes onderdonkii (Song et al , 2006), Alistipes shahii (Song et al , 2006), Alistipes indistinctus (Nagai et al , 2010), ‘ Alistipes senegalensis ’ (Mishra et al , 2012), Alistipes timonensis (Lagier et al , 2012b), ‘ Alistipes obesi ’ (Hugon et al , 2013) and ‘ Alistipes ihumii ’ (Pfleiderer et al , 2014).
