Non Invasive Estimation of Left ventricular Normalized Torsion Angle in Healthy Persons by Echo Tracking Algorithm: Short Axis view

Abstract: The importance of measuring LV rotation lies in its potential for early detection of pathology and the ability of torsion techniques to provide regional information. In this study, a non invasive imaging method available for the assessment of these complex cardiac motions was described. Background: Left ventricular (LV) torsion angle is a key parameter of cardiac performance but is difficult to measure. The purpose of this study is to describe a noninvasive imaging method for the assessment of these complex car… Show more

“…Echo-tracking ultrasound imaging has shown rotation angles of 7.96 • ±1.57 • and 9.49 • ± 1.71 • in the base and apex, respectively. 77 ECGgated acquisition protocols and/or tagged MRI would allow for sophisticated cardiac biomechanical modeling and modelbased image reconstruction that is equivalent to use of an increased number of views of the heart. Admittedly, this torsion is more complicated than a simple rotation as there are some linear displacements during a cardiac cycle.…”

“…Finally, even after the application of the three above points in the article, it would still require a fresh statistical analysis and, accordingly, fresh diagrams and/or tables (3,4).…”
