Nonisothermal cocuring behavior and kinetics of epoxy resin/3‐glycidyloxypropyl‐POSS with MeTHPA

Abstract: Abstract3‐Glycidyloxypropyl‐polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes (G‐POSS) was prepared from 3‐glycidyloxypropyl‐trimethoxysilane (GTMS) by hydrolytic condensation. The cocuring behavior and kinetics of G‐POSS with bisphenol‐A epoxy resin (BPAER) using 3‐methyl‐tetrahydrophthalic anhydride (MeTHPA) as curing agent were investigated by nonisothermal differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and torsional braid analysis (TBA). The face distribution of silicon in the cured products was characterized by energy dispe… Show more

“…However, E a increased at 1% CNC, this can be explained by the steric hindrance generated by well‐dispersed CNC in the MA matrix [Fig. (c)], which retarded the postpolymerization of MA resin . The E a at 4% CNC was higher than that of 2% CNC [Fig.…”

“…The solution viscosity was 5 × 10 4 mPa·s at room temperature. POSS was synthesized according to the literature by the hydrolytic condensation of 3‐glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane catalyzed with tetramethylammonium hydroxide firstly in isopropyl alcohol and secondly in toluene. 3‐Glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane was purchased from Yuanye Biotech Co. (China).…”

“…Assuming the maximum conversion being independent of the heating rate, the accurate E a can be determined. 34,35 In the present study, the reactions were conducted at four different heating rates: 5, 10, 15, and 20 C min À1 . Ozawa…”
